Tasty Treat Tuesday: Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars

I had these at a party several years ago, but never did get the recipe.  They are super rich, but oh so very delicious!  I am so glad that I just happened across this recipe on pinterest. (Sorry to all those with peanut allergies.  I will do a peanut free recipe next time.)  Thanks to Greta White for the recipe!

Here is what you need to make these:

  • 1 (18.25) package plain yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter

Tasty Treat Tuesday: Bisquick Danishes

This recipes takes me all the way back to my early college days, which I am getting old enough now to not want to admit how long ago that really was.  My roommate introduced me to these during finals week when we were both delirious from pulling an all-nighter.  I have craved them ever since.  These danishes are delicious right out of the oven, but they are still pretty yummy the next day for breakfast.

Here is what you need to make these:

Biscuits
  • 2 cups Original Bisquick® mix
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2/3cup milk or whipping cream
  • 1/4cup fruit preserves, any flavor
Vanilla Drizzle
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons warm water
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Tasty Treat Tuesday: Baked Pears in a Cherry and Chocolate Sauce

Here’s another recipe to add to your “healthier desserts” pile (or as I like to call it “The I overdid it during the holidays” pile).  My mouth is watering already!  Both pears and cherries are on sale this week so it is the perfect time to try it out.  Thanks to Yum Sugar for the recipe!

Here is what you need to make this:

  •  4 ripe, but firm Bartlett pears
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries (I am going to use fresh)
  • 2 Tbs. light corn syrup
  • 3 oz. semi sweet chocolate
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream

Tasty Treat Tuesday: 3, 2, 1 Cakes

I totally overdid it with treats over the holidays and now I am feeling pretty guilty.  However, I don’t think I could ever just completely cut sweets out of my life, so I am looking for a healthier option this week.  I came across this recipe for 3, 2, 1 cakes and it seems almost too good to be true.  The cakes are single serving sizes so you don’t overindulge and you can have them made in just a minute’s time… seriously.  Enjoy and make sure to share what yummy cake combinations you come up with.

Here is all that you need to make these:

  • 1 box of Angel Food cake Mix
  • 1 box of cake mix (any flavor of your choice)
  • 2 Tbs. Water
  • Desired toppings (whipped cream, fresh fruit, chocolate chips, sprinkles…)

Tasty Treat Tuesday: Crockpot Chocolate Lava Cake

I  absolutely love the Molten Chocolate Cake at Chili’s!  When I was pregnant with my third, I craved it so much that we ended up eating there once a week for several months.  To this day, whenever we get close to a Chili’s parking lot my children all groan in unison.  Lucky for then, my brother-in-law law introduced me to this crockpot version of the cake and it is so yummy.  When we had it, my mother-in-law was there so we went the gluten free route and it was still really good!

Here is what you need to make it:

  • 1 Chocolate Cake Mix (If needed, Betty Crocker makes gluten free cake mixes that are pretty good)
  • 1 Box of Chocolate Pudding Mix
  • 2 Cups cold milk
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 Bag of Chocolate Chips
  •  1/3 cup of oil
  • 1 2/3 cups of water
  • 1 Crockpot Liner

Here is how to make it:

  • In a bowl mix the cake mix, water, eggs and oil, then pour into the crockpot.
  • In a bowl mix the pudding mix and milk, then pour in a spiral motion over the cake batter.
  • Pour chocolate chips on top.
  • Put the lid on and cook on high for two hours.
  • After 2 hours, turn off the crockpot, but leave the lid on for another 30 minutes.  This helps the pudding to set.
  • When ready, scoop out a serving and top with vanilla ice cream.
