Grandparent’s Day Gifts on a Budget: Homemade Photo Frame

Grandparent’s Day is on September 11th this year.  Are you ready?  With Grandparent’s Day, it’s really the thought that counts and you don’t have to spend a lot of money.  Grandparents enjoy getting things from their grandkids!  This week, I’ve been featuring ideas for Grandparent’s Day gifts on a budget!

Grandparents LOVE to show off photos of their grandchildren and they also love gifts that are “from the heart.”  When I was a kid I LOVED making anything and everything with craft sticks.  My mom would buy a box for us at the craft store, and we had instant entertainment for hours!  Your kids will have fun making their own craft stick photo frame and their grandparents will love it!

There are lots of craft stick photo frame tutorials available online, but I loved all of the unique ideas that they had at First Palette.  Check out their tutorial here –>Craft stick photo frame tutorial

Here’s what you’ll need to create your own photo frame:

-Craft sticks

-Cardboard

-Glue (or hot glue gun)

-Poster paint

-Paint brush

-Scissors

-Pencil

-Ruler

-Photo

-Magnet or string

-Items to decorate your frame

You can grab all of these items at your local craft store!  If you have a Michael’s in your area, there is a 40% off printable coupon here–>Michael’s 40% off any regular-priced item

Grandparent’s Day Gifts on a Budget: Tissue Paper flowers

Grandparent’s Day is on September 11th this year.  Are you ready?  With Grandparent’s Day, it’s really the thought that counts and you don’t have to spend a lot of money.  Grandparents enjoy getting things from their grandkids!  For the next few days, I’ll be featuring ideas for Grandparent’s Day gifts on a budget!

Today’s gift is a tissue paper flower bouquet!  My mother in law and daughter actually made this one when she was here visiting us last week and had a blast doing it together!  So, you can make a bouquet for the grandparents and give it to them or you can buy the materials and let it be a “bonding” activity instead!

Here’s what you need to make these awesome tissue paper flowers:

-6 large sheets of tissue paper

-1 pipe cleaner

-scissors

-green crepe paper (optional, we didn’t use this)

-bamboo garden stake (optional, we didn’t use this)

-tape

So, you can make this entire craft for less than $2 if you omit the crepe paper and the garden stake!  We just used the pipe cleaners for the stems on our flowers!

For a complete tutorial on how to make these flowers, check out Family Fun!

Watch for more budget friendly Grandparent’s Day gift ideas the rest of the week!
