The Kroger Mega sale is ON!

If you haven’t really shopped much at Kroger before, this week is a great week to shop. During the Mega Sale, you get an instant $5 off when you purchase 10 participating items. You can do this up to three times (so 30 items) per transaction. You can really see your savings add up quickly!

Please keep in mind that these sale prices are for my area and YMMV so you may want to check out your store’s ad on Kroger.com. I have looked at a number of different bargain blogs and it appears that the same promotional items are working in different areas, but the prices do vary some.

I am going to post the ACTUAL price of items rather than the price at .50 off. I hope that this does not confuse anyone. I know for me, it is less confusing to do it that way as I make my scenarios. You CAN mix and match items. You DO have to purchase ten items to get the instant $5 off.

Kroger catalina deals

If you’re not familiar with catalinas, check out this post where I explain them.

I try to match up coupons I already have with things that I need and if there is a catalina deal to go along with it, it’s even better. I use the dollar of your next purchase coupons to either help lower the cost of things I don’t get coupons for very often (like produce or meat). If I have multiple coupons and it’s something I need or can stockpile, I will do the deal multiple times and use the catalina to help pay for it. Some examples of things that I have stockpiled using catalina offers are: dog treats, yeast, cereal, frozen vegetables, and fruit snacks (this is what I could think of off the top of my head).

I saw these posted on HCW.

Some of them match up well with coupons coming out soon:

This one ends today, but if you could find a way to work it into the instant $5 when you spend $25 on P&G products, it would be nice. I know the Crest toothpastes are 2/$5 and there is a $1.50 E-saver coupon plus there were .75/1 coupons in the 12-28 P&G inserts.

Kroger deals

I’ve been so wrapped up in CVS and Walgreens deals and I’ve been living off my stockpile for awhile, so I haven’t really been follownig the grocery store deals as much. Kroger has an instant $5 off when you spend $25 on P&G items promotion going on through 1/10/09.

There are a number of loadable P&G E-saver coupons that will work well with this promotion. Unfortunately, you will have to act quickly because they expire tomorrow.

Here are a few things you need to know about this deal:

*You can use paper manufacturer’s coupons in addition to the P&G E-saver coupons.

*You can get up to 2 $5 rewards per transaction.

*The ad does not specify this, but the tags in the store do: The $5 reward is not applied to your P&G items. You need to buy $5 (or $10 if you earn two rewards) in additional merchandise which the $5 will be applied to.

*Check your receipt carefully. Some people are reporting that there is a glitch when you use the E-saver coupons and the $5 is not coming off automatically.

*If you spend $50 on items (pre-coupon, of course), send in your receipt for a P&G coupon book with $120 worth of coupons. Details are here.

Here is my scenario:

Buy 2 Olay Ribbons Body wash – $3.99/each

Use $3/1 loadable E-saver coupon
