St. Patrick’s Day crafts, recipes, and more for kids!

I have been so caught up in my excitement over spring break that I hadn’t even been thinking about St. Patrick’s Day! Growing up, every “holiday” in my house was a big deal and we had different traditions and activities for different holidays. I have tried to do the same for my kids, but I admit that St. Patrick’s Day always seems to sneak up on me!

If it has snuck up on you, too, here are some fun ideas from around the blogosphere to entertain your kids!

One of my personal favorites was this idea for a leprechaun-themed scavenger hunt from Green Lily Designs.

RECIPES:

Green mashed potatoes – have a little fun with your kids while getting them to eat some “good” stuff, too.  This green mashed potatoes recipe from The Thrifty Gourmet includes peas instead of food coloring!  This one from Chaya’s Comfy Cook uses broccoli!

Green caramel corn – This green caramel corn from Find Your Happiness is a treat I think everyone in my family will get excited about

Rainbow cupcakes – I just love these cupcakes that were featured in Family Fun MagazineYou can find the recipe here.

CRAFTS:

Torn Paper ShamrockFrom Free Kid Crafts ~ totally budget friendly!  All you need is construction paper, a pencil, and glue!

Paper Bag Leprechaun Puppet – Here’s another one from Free Kid Crafts.  My kids are totally going to love this one.  Needed supplies include a brown (I guess you could use white, too) lunch bag, scissors, glue, construction paper, wiggle eyes, and crayons.

Coloring pages – Here are some St. Patrick’s Day themed printable coloring pages from DLTK.
