Tasty Treat Tuesday: Pumpkin Shaped Chocolate Cake

Halloween is just around the corner! This pumpkin shaped chocolate cake from Delish looks so yummy – I don’t think you can ever go wrong with chocolate! Even if you don’t get a chance to make it before Halloween, it still fits with a “fall” theme!

Cooking With Kids Thursday: Meringue hosts

I have never really attempted making any kind of meringue because it always seemed so difficult, but these ghosts are just so cute I may have to give it a try.  My kids will have so much fun designing their own ghosts…and then eating them.  Thanks Sunset!

Here’s what you need to make these:

  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 16 to 24 miniature semisweet chocolate chips or pieces semisweet chocolate

Cooking With Kids Thursday: Terrifying Tarantulas

I am so not a spider person so these kind of freak me out, but my kids would seriously think these are the coolest!  They are fairly easy to make and your kids will get plenty of practice writing their letter “v” while making the legs.  Thanks for the idea Better Homes and Gardens!

Here’s all you need to make these:

  • bag of candy melts (in brown or black)
  • resealable plastic bag
  • wax paper
  • sprinkles
  • 1-inch candy truflles

Here’s how to make them -> Terrifying Tarantulas Tutorial

Tasty Treat Tuesday: Ghosts and Goblins Pudding Cups

Chocolate pudding is a staple in our house.  Every time we are at the store, my daughter feels the need to “remind” me that we need to buy more chocolate pudding.  My problem is that pudding all by itself is just so boring.  I am always looking for ways to dress it up so that it really feels like a dessert and not just a snack.  These pudding cups are perfect for Halloween!

Here is what you need to make these Ghost and Goblin Pudding Cups:

-1 box instant pudding, prepared as directed on package
-Crushed chocolate cookies (Oreos are great!)
-Frozen whipped topping, thawed (Cool Whip)
-Chocolate chips
-Plastic sandwich baggie
-Clear plastic cups
