Tasty Treat Tuesday: Lemon Brownies

I feel like I have been sharing a lot of chocolate based recipes lately so I thought I would go in a different direction this week.  I came across this recipe for Lemon Brownies on Pinterest and I have been dying to try it.  The recipe is fairly easy and I already have most of the ingredients.  I just need a lemon.  Thanks for sharing Rita’s Recipes!

  • 3/4 C sugar
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1 stick butter, soft
  • 2 eggs

Tasty Treat Tuesday: Carmelitas

I pinned this a couple of days ago on Pinterest and several people have repinned it since then so I thought I would share it with you too.  If the picture isn’t enough of a sell, then here is what the maker has to say about it.  Carmelitas are “like a buttery oatmeal cookie that swallowed a caramel-filled chocolate bar and then got bibitty-bobitty-booed by the dessert fairy godmother and received an extra dose of deliciousness.”  Thanks for the recipe Lulu the Baker!  I cannot wait to make these, but no promises on sharing with the family.

Here’s what you need to make these:

  • 32 caramel squares, unwrapped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

Tasty Treat Tuesday: Easy Homemade Ice Cream

Seriously, this recipe is so easy that I may never buy ice cream at the store ever again!  It only requires two ingredients and no need for an ice cream maker.  Can it really be that easy?  Yes, yes it can.  Now I just need to decide on a flavor.  So many to choose from…  Thanks Kevin and Amanda!

Here’s what you need to make this:

  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 can of Eagle Brand  Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • any add-ins or toppings you would like

Tasty Treat Tuesday: Oatmeal Chocolate Peanut Butter No-Bake Candy Bars

With the temperatures here in Texas still hitting 100 degrees, I am all about no bake dessert recipes.  I will do just about anything to keep me from having to turn my oven on and heat my house up even more!  This recipe claims to be almost fudge-like and semi-healthy.  I am sold!  Thanks New Nostalgia.

Here’s what you need to make these:

  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil (no substitutes, this is what gives its creamy texture and flavor)
  • 2 cups oats (not instant)
  • 1 1/4 cups mini chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup dried cranberries

Cooking With Kids Thursday: French Toast Kebabs

I am not a morning person so during the week breakfast consists of either cereal or cereal bars.  Saturdays are our special breakfast day.  We usually have pancakes.  A couple of times we have tried french toast but it hasn’t gone over very well with the kids, but I have a feeling that will all change once we put it on a stick.  Seriously, what is it about a stick that makes food suddenly taste better and seem cooler?  I am thinking we will let the kids assemble their own just to mkae it even more fun.  Thanks Pink Parsley!

Here’s what you need to make these:

  • 1 large loaf of bakery bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pint blueberries (or any other fruit you might like to use)
  • 3/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • butter or cooking spray, to cook the bread cubes
