More Target deals!

As the week goes on, there are always more great Target finds that pop up on message boards and blogs and I love it!

Be sure to check out my weekly deals post for a full list of deals and match-ups.

Here are some new deals that have popped up:

The Buy 5 Quaker products, get a $5 gift card has gotten even better! The Quaker Easy Express Oatmeal is priced at $1.02 and is part of this offer! To make things even sweeter, the $1/1 Quaker oatmeal printable coupon (Click on “Get Started”) does not have any size restrictions! Reportedly, the Golden Brown Sugar and Baked Apple are the only varieties working for this deal (scan them first to check the price and to make sure they are part of the gift card offer).

Here’s how this deal works:
Buy 5 Quaker Easy Express Oatmeal – $1.02 each (only the Golden Brown Sugar/Baked Apple work)
Use 5 $1/1 printable coupons (you will need 3 computers to get this many)

Spend $.10 OOP, get a $5 gift card!

(Thanks Who Said Nothing in Life is Free!)

There is also an unadvertised gift card deal on Olay Bodywash that pairs of nicely with the Venus Embrace razor deal!
This week, the Venus Embrace razors are priced at $6.99. There was a $2 off coupon in the 2-7 P&G insert. There was also a coupon for a free Olay body wash when you buy any Venus Embrace razor. The 1-17 P&G insert had a $1/1 Olay body wash coupon. Some people who signed up for Target Mobile also got a $2 coupon.

It’s an awesome week at Walgreens!

There are some GREAT things happening at Walgreens this week! Be sure to check out my weekly deals post which includes my coupon match-ups and scenarios.

Here are a few additional things:

*The Huggies RR is “rolling” into itself! Typically, if you use a RR that you earned from a promotion on the same promotion, you will not get another RR, but that is not the case with the Huggies deal this week. If you need to stock up on diapers, this is AWESOME news! I was able to make a quick trip today and I got two packages of diapers.

*The Gillette razors are also “rolling” which means you can buy a Gillette razor and use the RR that you earn to buy another razor! (Just a note: the razors are in the weekly ads through the end of the month and there will be a P&G rebate starting on 2/21 where you can earn a free coupon book when you submit $50 in receipts, so you may want to save some of your coupons for later in the month!)

*If you’re looking for “filler items” and want to earn RR in the process, there’s a great unadvertised deal on Three Musketeers candy! Buy 3, get a $1 RR. Buy 4, get a $1.50 RR. There is a coupon in the weekly ad where you can get them for $.49/each. There are new “truffle” Three Musketeers at the register. The cashiers receive an incentive for upselling these items. Please keep in mind that there are also promotional Milky Ways at the register, but these DO NOT produce the RR. There are also some reports that the “truffle” Three Musketeers are not working with the $.49 in ad coupon.

*The Orbit Gum 3 packs are 2/$3 this week. There is a $1 Orbit printable on coupons.com. Use this coupon and the get 3 packs for $.50/each! (Thanks AFC!)

*If you need to stock up on juice, you can get Ocean Spray for just $1 each! Print off the $1/1 Ocean Spray 64 ounce juice coupon (make sure you use the back button on your browser to print 2). Then, pick up a copy of the Walgreens February coupon booklet (these are usually on the display with the ads just inside the store entrace). There is a Walgreens coupon for $.50/1 Ocean Spray juice. The juice is on sale for $2.50 this week, so it’s $1/each when you use both coupons! (Thanks Give Me Neither!)

Tip of the Day Tuesday: Budgeting for Bargains

One of the questions I get asked a lot by people is “How much do you budget for bargains?” My response is, “Nothing.” If you’ve been reading my blog for very long, you know that I’m a big fan of Dave Ramsey and that I budget for EVERYTHING, so I think that response probably catches people off guard.

The thing is, I don’t have a budget set aside specifically for “bargains.” All of my “bargain shopping” comes out of our other regular budget categories.

So, if there is a big grocery deal like the Mega sale that has been happening at Kroger the past two weeks, I have to figure out how to do the deals I want to do and stay within my grocery budget.

If there is a big sale at Walgreens or CVS (like the diapers and Dove deals this week!), I use my “toiletry” or “miscellaneous” budget envelopes.

So, I know what you’re thinking because it’s the next question I always get as I explain this. What if you don’t have enough money?

If I don’t have enough money in one of my envelopes to do a deal, sometimes that means that I sit that deal out. When you’re just getting started with bargain hunting, this can be a tough thing to do because you get so excited about all of the deals. Since we’re really trying to stick to our budget right now, a deal isn’t a deal if I don’t have the money to get it.

Having said that, I have to add a few disclaimers. First of all, I have a good stockpile of things that we “need” already, so I can sit out a deal knowing that I will probably have enough of a certain item to get by until the next deal comes along. Over time, I have also developed an understanding of the “sales cycles” to know about how long it will be before the next deal like that comes along. I’ve also gotten a good idea over time about what’s a really HOT deal that probably won’t come around again for awhile, if ever.

Sometimes, if the deal is really a “hot” deal and it’s for something we really NEED or I know we will need soon (most likely before the next deal comes along), then I will re-evaluate my budget categories and if we have enough money to cover it in another envelope and I feel like we’re pretty “set” in that category, I will borrow from another envelope. The bottom line for me is that I won’t spend money that I don’t actually have for any bargain shopping.

What about rebates?

I often get asked about rebates, too. Specifically, what if you don’t have money to cover something but there is a rebate offer of some sort, so you can just “replace” the money when you get your rebate? From my experience, it usually takes 4-8 weeks to get a rebate check back. By the time that rebate money comes, it’s pretty easy to come up with some other use for it, so more likely than not, you’re not going to pay yourself back. I only do rebate offers where I can get things for free or close to free (using ECBs or RRs) to start out with or when it’s for something I really need and would be buying anyway. When I get the rebate check, it goes into our “100% cash Christmas” fund.
